Valerie Kathawala is a writer focussed on the wines of Germany, Austria, and northern Italy with a particular interest in biodynamics. She is WSET 3 certified, has studied Italian native grapes under Ian D’Agata, and gained hands-on wine experience in New York’s Finger Lakes. Valerie is a lifelong student of German culture and language and has lived and worked in both Germany and Austria. Her crossover from translation and editorial work at the United Nations to writing about wine was a natural confluence of these experiences. Valerie’s recent work has been featured in the print journal Pipette as well as on WineFolly, The Vintner Project, and Grape Collective . She recently joined The Cork Report as Contributor at Large. She lives with her husband and three children in Manhattan.
